Intercity is looking for an Assistant Management Accountant (12-month FTC) to join our Finance team. If you’re detail-driven, eager to learn, and want to build a career in finance while supporting key business decisions, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
Reporting to the Finance Controller, you’ll assist with the production and analysis of monthly management accounts and provide support across the finance function. From journal postings and reconciliations to audit preparation and process improvements, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, supportive environment.
This position is available to anyone able to commute to our Birmingham office or Meppershall office.
Key Responsibilities as an Assistant Management Accountant:
- Assist in producing accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
- Ensure revenue and expenses are correctly reflected each month.
- Review and manage purchase order requests.
- Post journals and reconcile specific balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and review detailed P&L and balance sheet supporting schedules.
- Support audit preparation and annual financial statements.
- Help identify and implement process improvements within the finance team.
- Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the business to support operational and cost efficiencies.
Experience Required:
- Relevant experience in a finance department.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Good working knowledge of Excel.
- Experience with Sage X3 (beneficial but not essential).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- A proactive, enthusiastic approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Part-qualified in CIMA or ACCA (preferred but not essential).
